Washed Out’s ‘Eyes Be Closed’ Video Is As Chill As You Would Expect It To Be

Washed Out’s new album With And Without is — like Life Of Leisure before it — arguably among the most celebrated releases of the chillwave genre. Melodic and soothing, the new music by the band — which consists solely of Georgia-based musician Ernest Greene — was described by Washington Post music writer Patrick Foster as “a suite that conjures long car rides across open plains.” While I don’t disagree with that at all, I personally have enjoyed this album most while soaking in my bath tub with the lights out, a couple of candles flickering around me, a glass of whiskey or wine in hand, after a long day of writing things on the internet. Don’t snicker — it’s quite therapeutic, almost meditatively so.

So today the video for “Eyes Be Closed” was released, and it’s pretty cool stuff, featuring a beautiful, sunglass-wearing siren riding a motorbike as all sorts of real and synthetic imagery flash all around her. The viewing of this video may be enhanced by your recreational drug of choice, if you’re into that sort of thing. Just saying. Enjoy.
