Patton Oswalt Spent All The Money For The Ettes’ Video. Here’s What Was Left.

Patton Oswalt took a break from being a crabwalkin’ wizard and from being just generally awesome so he could play the on-screen proxy for director Tom Scharpling (host of The Best Show) in this music video for “Excuse” by The Ettes. The track is off the rocking Nashville trio’s newly-released album, Wicked Will, and the premise of the video is simple: what if someone gave Patton/Tom $81 million to “make Avatar look like The Breakfast Club,” but he spent the money on “a lot of deep vices?” What we’re left with is the green screen footage and storyboards for what $81 million could have bought if he hadn’t spent the money on ambiguous vices. (Sky cake? Ratatouille DVDs?)

It also doesn’t hurt that this is just a really good jam that’s stuck in my head now (in a good way), and I’m not just saying that because there’s Patton Oswalt and drawings of dragons in this. But that helps.

[Hat tip and one of the dragon drawings on the UPROXX break room refrigerator to SPIN.]
