I was just about to doze off last night when suddenly M83 appeared on my TV to perform “Midnight City” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. At first I thought, “Oh cool I’ll just close my eyes and fall asleep to this,” but then they started playing and that thought went out the window. Rather, I was suddenly energized and felt like dancing. That’s some powerful stuff right there — when your band can compel a grown-a$s man on the verge of sleep to get up and dance around his living room. A tip of the cap to you, M83. Nice touch with the sax at the end, btw.
Additionally, sandwiched between M83 and Jason Segel with the Muppets was crazy-eyed loon Michele Bachmann, for whom The Roots played Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” as she made her entrance. Naturally, Bachmann was totally clueless to the fact that she was being pwned, reaffirming my love for The Roots at the same time. Well done, boys.
