A Georgia restaurant called Chops & Hops is being criticized & despised after naming a “Caribbean black & bleu” sandwich on their menu after Chris Brown’s cowardly, despicable physical assault on Rihanna in 2009.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
In promoting the sandwich Chops & Hops tweeted that “@chrisbrown, @rihanna and us teamed up for a award winning celebrity sandwich.”
“Chris Brown won’t beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with a R and ends with A,” the tweet said. (Via)
Obviously, this is a terrible, terrible thing, and no person, let alone entire business, should attempt to financially capitalize on a man beating up a woman. What were they thinking? Were they appealing to the online demographic that thinks, “God, I’m so hungry for a sandwich, I’d beat up my lover for one.”
This also begs the question, why are people still making Chris Brown and Rihanna jokes in 2012? They weren’t amusing on February 9, 2009, and they’re even less funny now. But if you were worried about the true intentions of the Chops & Hops personnel: “The owners of C&H would like to make sure everyone knows that we and our staff DO NOT SUPPORT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.” That all-caps really convinces me they did nothing wrong.
