Here's A Lovely Performance By Bahamas To Brighten The Hell Out Of Your Day

Does Ke$ha tweeting a photo of herself pissing in the street have you down? Yeah, me too. Well here’s a little something to brighten your day.

I’d been meaning to make mention of Afie Jurvanen — who goes by the stage name “Bahamas” — for a while now. Have you heard of him? Probably not, sadly. I’m kind of astounded he’s not a bigger deal when there’s so much crap floating around out there. The video of him below performing a stunningly beautiful acoustic version of “Lost in the Light” reminded me of just how sick he is. It’s so simple, yet sort of awe-inspiring.

The performance was captured by Liveset — arguably the best live-steaming outfit out there (seriously, check out the work they did with the Civil Wars a while back) — at SXSW this year and it’s mesmerizing.

Also, if you’re bored at work today, Liveset is streaming a live show by Carolina Chocolate Drops in New Orleans at 2:30est. If you’re unfamiliar with the Drops, their 2010 album, the hilariously titled Genuine Negro Jig, won the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album last year. But for now enjoy the performance below by Bahamas — it’s a day-maker.
