It was 15 years ago today that Biggie Smalls, aka Notiorious B.I.G., was murdered, probably by a hitman hired by Suge Knight (Complex posted an interview today with the former LAPD detective who investigated the murder — like many others, he believes it was Knight who ordered the hit). Kinda hard to believe that so much time has passed. I can remember exactly where I was when I heard about his death, along with who I with and what we were doing. If he were alive today he’d be but 39 years old.
In the 1997 New York Times story detailing his murder, Biggie’s quoted as saying in an earlier interview that he was “scared to death” of “getting my brains blown out.” He had a feeling it was coming, and I’m pretty sure he knew who was going to try to do it. As other people have similarly noted, it’s kind of remarkable that we can drop a missile on a Hyundai from space but we can’t find out who killed Biggie and Tupac.
Regardless, it’s good to see Biggie is being remembered today…
