Final Track: 7 Must-Hear Songs Of The Week

It’s impossible to cover each bit of new music that comes out during the week, so every Friday, we’ll be doing an end of the week music roundup. It’s called Final Track, and we’ll count off a few songs released during the week that are worth giving a listen to.

Today, we’ve got selections from Titus Andronicus, Action Bronson, Paul Westerberg, and more.

“In a Big City” by Titus Andronicus

The highly anticipated first single from Titus Andronicus’s upcoming third album, Local Business (October 22), is a midtempo punk-rock anthem, which is status quo for the group, though a bit more focused and tight than their past material. This album’s gonna be good.

“Triple Threat” by Missy Elliott with Timbaland

Quoth the Smoking Section: “Missy Elliott and Timbaland have new music. With one another. In 2012. And you know what, it’s nothing instant classic worthy, but it doesn’t suck either.” We’ll take it.

“It’s Me” by Action Bronson

It’s Action Broson rhyming over “African jazz,” and I had a smile on my face the entire time.

“Who Shot Ya (Funkmaster Flex Freestyle)” by Kendrick Lamar

In Flex we trust, in Kendrick we admire.

“My Road Now” by Paul Westerberg

The first new song in over two years from the Replacements’ frontman is less soaked in beer than drenched in send-offs and heartbreak. And some beer, too. But fancy beer.

“Encyclopedia of Classic Takedowns” by A.C. Newman with Neko Case

An upbeat, bouncy reminder of how good the New Pornographers are.

“RNR Affair” by Prince
