New My Bloody Valentine Album ‘Might Be Out In Two Or Three Days’

Twenty-three years. It’s been 23 years since My Bloody Valentine’s released their second and as of now, last, album, Loveless, as perfect a collection of music as you’re ever going to hear. For years, frontman Kevin Shield insisted that his band wasn’t done making new music, but as year after year passed, MbV Record #3 became the shoegaze version of Dr. Dre’s Detox or RZA’s The Cure. But last night during a London concert, Shield dropped a bombshell.

According to reports on Twitter, My Bloody Valentine returned to the stage in London tonight and after debuting a new song (!), Kevin Shields told the audience that the band’s long-awaited third album “might be out in two or three days.” (Via)

“Hi, grandma, it’s me, My Bloody Valentine Fan #287. I’m doing well, thanks. I have some bad news: I won’t be able to make it to your 97th birthday tomorrow. I want to, and I know you don’t have many left, but I need to be near my computer until I, um, receive a Valentine. Yes, that’s the ticket. No, grandma, I wasn’t calling you a midget.”
