“Entertainment” by Phoenix
After the remarkable and unexpected success of 2009’s Grammy-winning Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, French rockers Phoenix are back with their first new song in three years, “Entertainment,” which decidedly does not rock. The synth-heavy, impressively tight track is too busy trying to get us to dance. It’s arena ready, as are Phoenix.
“Let Me Back In” by Rilo Kiley
“Let Me Back In,” or as the soulful ballad was previously known, “I Love LA” (not a Randy Newman cover), has been around for years, but hasn’t received an official Rilo Kiley release until the upcoming RKives, a B-sides and rarities album. Listen to it here.
“And the sky began to scream” by How to destroy angels_
An unsurprisingly moody, glitchy single with a tortured title from Trent Reznor’s other moody, glitchy band, How to destroy angels_, who will release their debut album, Welcome oblivion, on March 5th.
“Almost Home” by Mariah Carey
Taken from the Oz: The Great and Powerful soundtrack, “Almost Home,” from Norwegian producers Stargate, is big and blustery and a little obvious, unlike Oz: The Great and Powerful, which looks big and blustery and WTF.
“If You Loved Me Before…” by Cass McCombs
“If you loved me before, can’t you love me today?” A typical lay-it-all-out-on-the-line sentiment from Cass McCombs, who excels at bleak, minimalist guitar tracks that chip away feelings of so-called “happiness,” though you’re so entranced, you don’t really mind. “If You Loved Me Before…” is no exception.
“One of Those Nights” by Juicy J w/ the Weeknd

“The Rise of Ghostface Killah” by Ghostface Killah
After a too-long three-year wait, Ghostface will finally put out his 10th studio album, the RZA-produced Twelve Reasons To Die, in April, and “The Rise of Ghostface Killah” is our first listen. Yup, sounds like Wu-Tang.
