It’s impossible to cover each bit of new music that comes out during the week, so every Friday, we’ll be doing an end of the week music roundup. It’s called Final Track, and we’ll count off a few songs released during the week that are worth giving a listen to.
Today, we’ve got selections from Black Sabbath, Florence + the Machine, Rockie Fresh, and more.
“God Is Dead?” by Black Sabbath
Here’s the dirge-like debut single from Black Sabbath’s 13, featuring the talents of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler (with Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk on drums) for the first time since 1978. Ozzy’s personal life might be falling to sh*t, but at least his music is nearly as solid as it was back in the day.

“Shut Up” by Savages
2013’s It Band/SXSW heroes gear up for the release of the highly anticipated Silence Yourself with a short film for their unrelenting, immediate “Shut Up.” That’s good advice.
“Over the Love” by Florence + the Machine
The Great Gatsby is going to be a gorgeous mess, but hey, at least the soundtrack’s will be decent (minus the Fergie). “Over the Love,” from Florence + the Machine, is a brooding highlight.
“Get Away (feat. the Spirit of the Wu)” by De La Soul
In the fall, hip-hop greats De La Soul will release their first album in nine years, You’re Welcome. “Get Away (feat. the Spirit of the Wu)” is both a celebration of everything Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo have accomplished, and a tribute to Wu-Tang Clan. “Like the Wu, we bring it to you in the purest form/We reside far away from the norm.” Thank you.
“Because the Night” by Screaming Females and Garbage
Garbage and Screaming Females toured together last year, and while on the road, they must have played Patti Smith’s Easter on repeat because here’s their cover of “Because the Night.” Their partnership calls to mind co-writers Smith and Bruce Springsteen working together, although the Screaming Garbage cover is a bit more ferocious than either of their versions.
“The Bear and the Maiden Fair” by the Hold Steady
Just another reminder that this song is awesome.
