Final Track: 7 Must-Hear Songs Of The Week

It’s impossible to cover each bit of new music that comes out during the week, so every Friday, we’ll be doing an end of the week music roundup. It’s called Final Track, and we’ll count off a few songs released during the week that are worth giving a listen to. (Banner via)

Today, we’ve got selections from Superchunk, Beck, Wale, and more.

“FOH” by Superchunk

Superchunk could be the perfect rock band, and not nearly enough people know about them. “FOH,” the first single from their upcoming album, I Hate Music, is the band in a glorious nutshell: shaggy, frenetic, sloppy yet ridiculously tight with melodies that immediately wiggle their way into your mind, where they’ll never leave.

Believe me.

“Funtimes In Babylon” by Father John Misty

To quote the Misty man himself:

“Music videos don’t need blurbs. It’s like putting a brief summary before a Garfield comic strip. Also when did everyone start calling them ‘clips’? A ‘clip’ is an excerpt of a whole, I thought. Whoever post’s this, don’t spoil the ending in your blurb, which will probably read like this: “Seattle based folk beardo Father John Murphy mopes around a deserted, apocalyptic landscape (and shows off some of those infamous dance moves) in this Josh Tillman directed clip for ‘Funtimes In Babylon’.” (Via)

MOVING RIGHT ALONG.

Neko Case

The always stunning Neko Case announced her new album, the Fiona Apple-worthy The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, with an appreciably pretty and haunting video.

“Waiting in Vain” by Bob Marley (Jim James remix)

Who better to remix a classic Bob Marley song than the bearded frontman for My Morning Jacket, Jim James?

“Poor Decisions” by Wale ft. Lupe Fiasco & Rick Ross

“Defriended” by Beck

Beck announced earlier this week that he will be putting out two new album this year, which considering the shuttering, shaking “Defriended,” should hopefully end his disappointing streak from Guero to Modern Guilt, with The Information in the middle.

“I’m Waiting Here” by David Lynch ft. Lykke Li

OK, David Lynch. Sure, David Lynch.
