Yoko Ono is not to blame for breaking up the Beatles. John Lennon was already splintering off from the rest of the group by the time she came along; her presence only hurried the process along. That’s my defense of Yoko the person; I have no such justification for her experimental art and post-Lennon avant-garde “music” that sounds like three feral cats being scrapped against a dusty chalkboard. For proof: try to describe her entire performance with the Flaming Lips on Letterman last night without the use of the words “shrill” and “banshee-like.” It’s impossible.
