Final Track: 7 Must-Hear Songs Of The Week

It’s impossible to cover each bit of new music that comes out during the week, so every Friday, we’ll be doing an end of the week music roundup. It’s called Final Track, and we’ll count off a few songs released during the week that are worth giving a listen to.

Today, we’ve got selections from Rick Ross and Jay Z, London Grammar, Black Lips, and more.

“The Devil is a Lie” by Jay Z and Rick Ross

Rick Ross appeared on Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, so like a friend playing the I Help You Moved, Now You Help Me Move card, Hova drops by Da Boss’ “The Devil is a Lie,” the second single from Mastermind.

“Boys In the Wood” by the Black Lips

Atlanta’s finest garage-rockers traveled to Nashville to record their upcoming album, Underneath the Rainbow, bringing with them Patrick Carney from that other “Black” band, the Black Keys. “Boys In the Wood” is a smoky taste from their work together.

“Blissfully Ignorant Thoughts” by Joe Scudda

“Thug Till It’s Over” by Freddie Gibbs

Freddie gets soulful on “Thug,” taken from Piñata, his collaborative album with Madlib.

“Fire” by Anna Calvi

Anna Calvi finds the scary sensuality of Bruce Springsteen’s “Fire.” We find another great Boss cover.

“Black Me Out” by Against Me!

“I wanna piss on the walls of your house.” Been there. My house, your house: when you gotta go, it doesn’t matter.

“Everywhere You Go” by London Grammar

London Grammar tone down the trip-hop for a softer, sweeter sound on “Everywhere You Go.”
