Nicki Minaj’s Iggy Azalea Mockery At The BET Awards Deserved Its Own Trophy

For the first time since the truffle fries incident, Nicki Minaj had competition for the BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist. That would be Iggy Azalea, the “Fancy” rapper who everyone has an opinion on her realness. Including Nicki, who not-so-subtly implied that T.I., among others, ghostwrites her material.

Here’s what Nicki Minaj said in Nicki Minaj’s acceptance speech.

“What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.” She later added, “I hope and pray that BET continues to honor authenticity.”

That’s boilerplate controversy, but what made Nicki’s speech so memorable was her body language.

There’s literally nothing authentic about Nicki, a dayglo mermaid who voiced a mammoth in Ice Age: Continental Drift, so her criticism is “pot kettle White Chicks level rich. But she’s so much more enjoyable at throwing shade than she is at playing Sassy Black Friend #1 in The Other Woman.
