There’s Going To Be Another ‘Disco Demolition Night,’ This Time With Miley And Justin Bieber Albums

Thirty-five years ago this month, the Chicago White Sox, with guidance from shock jock Steve Dahl, came up with the ill-fated idea of inviting fans to burn and destroy their copies of Disco-Tex & His Sex-O-Lettes on vinyl. The promotion was called “Disco Demolition Night,” and organizers expected it to be minor hit. Instead, 50,000 fans showed up, and when they weren’t chucking records like Frisbess, they were storming the field, where a large box that had been rigged with explosives blew up. Say what you will about disco (it “sucks,” perhaps), but it didn’t deserve THAT level of scorn.

Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, though? Scorn away.

The minor-league Charleston RiverDogs in Charleston, S.C., will try to recapture the magic with “Disco Demolition 2: You Better Belieb It.” The event, to be held on Saturday, will feature the destruction of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus music and paraphernalia. The RiverDogs will play the Augusta GreenJackets, and the destruction will take place after the game. (Via)

What could go wrong?

Oh yeah.
