Who Covered It Best: Beck’s Prince Vs. Jack White’s Kanye West?

Jack White has talked at length about his love for Kanye West, and even how he was going to appear on Yeezus until some “f*cking texting thing.” But it wasn’t until last night that he chose to show his appreciation through song. White covered “Black Skinhead,” and although it’s only a snippet, it’s still cool to hear how easily his band slips into “High Ball Stepper.” Meanwhile, many thousands of miles away, Beck decided to give Prince’s “1999″ a spin, because in the Becktionary, it’s always almost Y2K.
