Wynonna Judd Had Some Weird Things To Say About Kanye West And Dave Grohl

By definition, a musical performance is supposed to be just that — the singing and playing of the various sounds often strewn together to make music. But this isn’t always the case, as country music star Wynonna Judd proved earlier today during a small set at South By Southwest. How, you ask? By ranting about Kanye West, Dave Grohl, and a host of other subjects.

The Judd sister who hasn’t been kissed by Dick Vitale (yet) interrupted her church-bound performance with a string of loosely related stories, the first of which stemmed from a cab driver’s question about Kanye:

“My cab driver told me on the way here, ‘They say Kanye’s gonna be here.’ I’m like (finger in throat). I want to be Kanye. I want to have people talk about me. I can take him with one hand tied behind my back,” she said. (Via Billboard)

How did Grohl even enter the picture, then? The logic of it all remains unclear, but here’s what Judd had to say about the Foo Fighters frontman:

“There’s nobody like (him). He’s like a 10th grader with cash,” she said. (Via Billboard)

Um, okay. So sophomores in high school hold your highest regards. That’s great, Mrs. Judd.

The reasoning behind the country musician’s seemingly disorganized performance/confessional later became apparent when she talked about the festival itself:

During the show, Judd noted that she’d always avoided SXSW, because “I don’t like to be involved in things that are too organized,” but that the prospect of playing in a church was too good to pass up. (Via Billboard)
