Walking in on your parents doing it is probably every child’s worst nightmare, especially if they’ve matured into adulthood. So despite the fact that most people don’t like Robin Thicke for the all too rapey vibes of “Blurred Lines” and his and co-writer Pharrell Williams’s alleged theft of Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up,” it’s easy to lend the man some sympathy regarding his current plight.

What plight, you ask? Oh, nothing much — just the fact that his own father, Alan Thicke uses his music to get jiggy with his current wife Tanya Callau. The elder Thicke and Callau told Us Weekly:

“When we do get freaky, we love [Robin’s song] ‘Sex Therapy,'” Callou, Alan’s wife of 10 years, told Us in our latest edition of Loose Talk. “You have to admit, it’s a great song to get in the mood.”

Robin heard about the revelation and, like most kids these days, decided to express his concerns publicly on Twitter.

Sounds like some non-copyright infringement trial press for Robin. So despite the fact that it’s covered in icky, icky things, of course tweeting about (and at ) Alan’s handle was a good idea, right?

Wrong. Alan’s a dad, and like all fathers, he knows how to one-up is son in any endeavor.

I admit I can relate to their father-son dynamic a little bit — at least when it comes to constantly trying to one-up each other in any and all forums possible. But the whole using your child’s creative efforts to score? Eh, not so much. (God, I hope so.)
