This Taylor Swift Fan’s Weight Loss Story Is Your Friday Inspiration

Taylor Swift fan Ronnie Brower lost more than 400 pounds in two years, and his friends want the singer to hear his incredible story before he sees her in concert in June.

Ronnie’s friend Joe Bufano posted this video on YouTube detailing his weight loss journey and explaining how Taylor Swift’s music kept Ronnie motivated during his long workouts. Almost two years ago, Ronnie weighed 675 pounds and was unable to walk or hold down a job. His doctor told him that he would die before the age of 35 unless he made some drastic changes.

Over the next 700 days, Ronnie and his friends documented his daily routine with pictures and video. In the beginning, he worked out using a hand bike because he was unable to leave his home. Soon, he added hand weights to his workouts, then chair squats, and he eventually moved his workouts to a gym for stair stepping, more weights, and boxing. In one year, he lost 264 pounds, and he kept going, losing more than 400 pounds.

The video doesn’t reveal Ronnie’s total weight loss, but his improved quality of life is much more important than the numbers on the scale. As the video shows, he went from someone who could barely walk or do a sit-up to being strong and fully-mobile. That’s a stunning achievement.

Ronnie and Joe will be at Taylor Swift’s concert on June 3. Let’s hope that Swift sees this video before then and plans something awesome for Ronnie, like backstage passes or inviting him up on stage for “Shake It Off.”
