Here’s 89-Year-Old Dick Van Dyke Channeling His ‘Mary Poppins’ Dance For This Music Video

Dick Van Dyke is a legend of film and television, but he began his career as a bit of a song and dance man. Funnily enough, when he got the lead role as Albert Peterson in the Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie, he didn’t have any real professional dancing experience. He then went on to win the Tony for Best Featured Actor for that role. Nowadays, Van Dyke is 89, so you’d think he might have slowed down. Then, you see him appear in this music video for The Dust Bowl Revival, and he puts that notion to bed.

Sure, the elder Van Dyke is perhaps not as spry as he used to be, but he’s still got a spring in his step, and can still do a bit of the old soft shoe. He seems to be having a great time, playing the ukulele and dancing with a stuffed bear and what have you. All the while, The Dust Bowl Revival plays their song “Never Had To Go.” However, and with all due respect, Van Dyke is the real draw here.

That being said, having Van Dyke in the video should give these guys a bit of a boost to their Q score, and maybe get some people interested in their somewhat old time bit of musical business. Now, if only somebody could get Van Dyke to trot out his horrendous cockney accent again for our amusement.
