A Band Wrote A Song Titled ‘The Conan Song’ To Try And Get On Conan

You’re an obscure band with big dreams. You really want to be on a particular late night show, for the honor and the exposure. How do you make this happen? Well, if you’re the band Lipstick, you make a music video more or less begging to be on the show.

In particular, Lipstick is hoping to be on Conan O’Brien’s self-titled talk show. Their song, “The Conan Song,” does not beat around the bush. They really want to be on Conan, and they want Conan to know. They’re a garish band, with a look calling to mind gender bending old glam rockers like the New York Dolls. Of course, this is 2015, so it comes across more tedious than anything, and it leads to questions such as, “Is this a bit?” Also, they have some sort of cat mascot, putting them alongside luminary bands such as Kottonmouth Kings in terms of having a mascot.

Also, this isn’t going to work. Sorry, Lipstick. However, just making this effort will certainly get them more attention than they would have gotten just by making music and wearing goofy top hats. Maybe Letterman would have had you on as a stupid human trick, but those days are gone. Oh, and the dude from Kottonmouth Kings who used to just dance and smoke weed apparently isn’t in the band anymore. Time makes fools of us all.
