Madonna Still Believes In Tidal, Even If No One Else Does

Since its launch in March, almost none of the news surrounding the upstart streaming service Tidal has been good. Birdman is suing the service for $50 million, and Apple Music has a huge leg up in terms of access to users. The situation was bad enough before Jay Z’s baby committed the ultimate sin, cutting off a Jeezy concert early.

Even with all of these problems, Madonna still believes Tidal can prosper.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Madge says the streaming service needs time to find its legs.

“It’s just the beginning, so we’re working out a lot of kinks and hopefully we’re going to build something unique and amazing that’s going to attract a lot of people.”

She also countered the idea that the pricey service is a money grab on the part of its famous supporters.

“It’s important that people understand we didn’t create Tidal, we didn’t put this together, we didn’t all join forces because we’re broke and we want more money. The idea is we want to support other artists and we want people to understand this is our heart, this is our work, and we want people to recognize that and we want other artists to have a chance…We live in a society now where everybody just expects everything to be for free, but you don’t get a house for free; you have to pay somebody to build it.”

Speaking of, maybe Tidal should pay someone to write their artist bios?
