‘Playbill’ Kinda Shaded The Roots By Calling Them ‘Jimmy Fallon Band Members’

There’s possibly no one more in demand to play major events and produce big musical projects than Questlove and the rest of his bandmates in The Roots. While their profile has been elevated as the official band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the group won several Grammys prior to that, sold millions of records, and Questlove had produced and played on albums for some of the biggest names in music, including D’Angelo, Common, Fiona Apple, John Mayer, and Christina Aguilera, just to name a few.

However, despite all these accomplishments, some people are still unaware of what someone’s past works are (or what purpose Google serves). Such is the case with theater magazine Playbill, and their now-updated article on The Roots handling the production of big Broadway musical Hamilton‘s original cast recording album.

Referring to The Roots as “Jimmy Fallon Band Members” and just “Roots,” is pretty bad. But also missing that the group is still recording music that’s also been Grammy-nominated as recently as two years ago is probably worse. And, of course, enormous Twitter presence Questlove couldn’t just let that go.

As soon as that went out to his 3.4 million followers, Playbill quickly updated the post and hit Quest up with a mea culpa.

Ah, the internet. Complain just a little bit about crappy things, and you can truly effect change.
