Courtney Barnett’s New Music Video Is A Surprise Subway Party

Australian indie darling Courtney Barnett has been putting up billboards all over the world with the words “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party” in a font that can be described as “Drake-ian.” The phrase is a track title from her most-recent album Sometimes I Sit and Think, Sometimes I Just Sit, and fans were right to suspect that it would be her next single. What couldn’t be predicted is the way she would roll it out… a surprise show at a London subway station.

Barnett put on a surprise performance of the song in front of commuters at the Camden Town station, and created a music video out of her own footage and the cell phone footage of audience members.

The setting (and idea of commuters taking a break from their trek to rock out) is perfect for Barnett’s form of slack-rock, which deals extensively with banal topics like commuting and office work.

Sometimes is out now on Milk Records.
