Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Guns N’ Roses And Screaming Trees Members Formed A Stooges Cover Band

It may be hard to remember in Montage of Heck-mania, but there are other bands than Nirvana out there. Members of Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees and Guns N’ Roses (all incredible and important acts) got together to celebrate another influential act: The Stooges.

Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, and Mark Arm of Mudhoney covered The Stooges as “Raw Power” from atop Seattle’s Pike Place Market. The event was put on by local radio station KEXP (who seem to have a thing for putting Mark Arm really, really high up) to celebrate the legacy of the proto-punk act and was free and open to the public.

Raw Power performed a seven-song set that lasted 30 minutes. You can do that when you’re covering a punk band. They took on classics like “Search and Destroy” and “Little Doll” in front of the market’s landmark sign.

Check out a fan-shot video of “Search and Destroy” up top and a few other songs below.
