Ryan Adams Covered Some Dude Named Neil Young Who’s Not Taylor Swift

Ryan Adams understandably needs a break from attempting to cover Taylor Swift, so he jumped up on stage with Jakob Dylan and Norah Jones to cover some dude named Neil Young.

Mr. Young apparently has his own benefit festival called Neil Fest, even though he wasn’t famous enough to show up in the “Bad Blood” video. Presumably all of the artists involved (including Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Body/Head and Charles Bradley) got together to learn songs with titles like “Cinnamon Girl,” “Southern Man” and “Old Man.” He’s not exactly big enough to be welcomed to the stage by Tay Tay. He’s no Alanis.

And no one’s going to make a corn maze of him (even if his songs sound like a field of corn that’s gained sentience).

But maybe they somehow knew him already.  You know artists and their obscure musical tastes.

According to the New York Times, this is Young. More like Neil Old, amirite? (Dear Twitter, I invented that joke. Plz give credit.) He started a streaming service that takes on Spotify, so he’s probably good in Taylor’s book.

The festival continues Monday night, because apparently he has more songs worth knowing. Check out Adams doing “Cinnamon Girl” up top and covers of “Southern Man,” “Old Man,” and “Helpless.”
