Pearl Jam Won’t Play October Shows In The Future Because The Cubs Are Good Now

If you’re a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and rock star, planning your tour schedule around the postseason isn’t really an issue. At least it wasn’t until the Cubs unexpectedly glo’d up this season. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder said the band won’t be playing any October shows in the coming years so that he can catch the Cubbies after the regular season ends.

“It’s been a surprise. We’re touring and I have to leave before the World Series,” Vedder told Fox Sports Midwest before the Cubs 8-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on October 12. “All I’m saying is that, the next few years, we’re not going to play in October.”

Vedder admitted that he agreed with the pundit class, who thought the Cubs were another year away from contention.

“This year, I didn’t think we had to worry about it,” he said.

The singer also added that the Cubs going to a World Series, which he’d be forced to miss, is far better than the alternative.

“I hope we go to the World Series and I hope I miss the games. It’d be a good problem to have.”

Vedder previously partied with the Cubs earlier this month after they won their one-game Wild Card playoff against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
