Fans of Adele who wanted to hear 25 have spent the last week flipping over to their streaming platform of choice and having their heart broken again. Adele made the decision to not stream her new album at all upon its release, no doubt helping inflate her record-setting sales among fans who just couldn’t wait to hear her wail. Well now the “Hello” singer has opened up a bit about her feelings on streaming music, and they’re exactly what you would think.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Adele had this to say about the way the majority of Americans consume music.
“It probably is the future, but, eh. There are kids I know who are, like, nine who don’t even know what a f*cking CD is! I’ve got my CDs out on display in my house just to prove a point. Maybe CDs will have a massive comeback like vinyl did. Actually I think cassettes, just to be a pain in the ass! I’ve got all my Destiny’s Child cassettes!”
In the interview’s outtakes, Adele expounded on that strange semi-beef between her and Phil Collins. Apparently, Adele was trying to collaborate with him in the super early stages of 25, but chickened out after a few meetings.
“I met up with him in London super-early, like well before I was starting the record. And I had this song in mind and I can’t remember if I gave him a copy of the song or if I gave him a chorus or something, and then I just chickened out of everything. I went, ‘Oh, I’m not ready.’ And he called me a slippery fish [laughs]! I think he interpreted it that I decided I didn’t want to work with him, but actually I decided I didn’t want to write a record, period, at that point. But yeah, there’s no bad blood there, or certainly not on my half.”
