Charli XCX Called Out At The BBC For Airing A Men’s Rights Documentary

Charli XCX‘s most popular work happens to be when she’s working in the background, like writing major songs such as Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” to name a few, but she’s loud, front and center when it comes to decrying something like the Men’s Rights movement. The pop singer/songwriter went on an extended Twitter rant aimed squarely at the BBC after learning that BBC 3 was airing a documentary on Men’s Rights activists. XCX admitted that she hadn’t seen all of Men At War — the documentary based around UK men who think they are being oppressed by the fight for equal rights for women — but let loose based on the preview.

Charli has a beef beyond being a woman (and therefore the exact type of person that the insufferable collection of neckbeards calling themselves MRAs are trying to hold down). She made her own documentary for BBC 3 documenting the misogyny that many women in the music industry experience, a documentary that was not given the primetime slot like Men At War. She also felt that viewpoints as toxic as the ones espoused by MRAs should not be granted legitimacy by BBC coverage.

And because she’s clearly been here before, Charli has already predicted the reaction that is no doubt heading her way.
