Alanis Morissette Is Now An Advice Columnist For ‘The Guardian’

If you just broke up with Dave Coulier and need to know the appropriate way to react, then you’re in luck. Alanis Morissette was just hired by U.K. media company The Guardian as a weekend advice columnist.

Morissette’s first column will come on January 16, after which she’ll probably set up email filters to send any questions about an abundance of spoons straight to the trash. The Jagged Little Pill singer told the paper that she’s a good fit for the position vacated by Molly Ringwald (!!!) because she played therapist to her family while growing up in Ottawa.

“Parents, brothers, even extended family members, that was the role I took on, because I suppose I had this combination of intuition and empathy. I cut my teeth, basically, listening for a living,” she said.

I’m sure Morissette will do the position justice, but I’m kind of hoping she responds to every query by sending a link to the YouTube upload of “You Learn” followed by a winky face.

Presumably the column will focus on people’s relationship crises and etiquette problems a la Dear Prudence. But if Alanis is willing to dip into fashion dos and don’ts, I’ve got this backwards and inside-out sweater
