All Hail Cut Copy’s Remixing Of Death Cab For Cutie’s ‘Doors Unlocked And Open’

I’ve recently become fond of Cut Copy, the Australian electronica group currently touring with Washed Out, another current musical crush of mine. So when I got an email earlier today from a rep for the band announcing that they’d remixed a song by Death Cab For Cutie, a longtime musical crush of mine, well, I almost sharted from excitement. Almost.

And then I finally got around to giving the remix of “Doors Unlocked And Open” a good listen and I think I almost sharted again. (Sorry guys, it’s just been too long since I’ve used the term “sharted.”) I fired back the following succinct response to the aforementioned Cut Copy rep: “This is f*cking fantastic!” Seriously y’all, it is.

From the DCFC blog:

Death Cab for Cutie are excited to announce a collection of remixes of songs from ‘Codes And Keys.’ Starting today, we’ll be revealing one new remix a week for 7 weeks – we’re kicking it all off with a remix of “Doors Unlocked and Open” by Cut Copy! On the 7th week, everything will culminate with the release of a remix EP entitled the ‘Keys And Codes Remix EP’ and it’s out everywhere on November 22.

As the band’s blog post notes, a new remix will be streamed each Monday leading up to the EP’s release — each remix will then be available for purchase via iTunes the following day — as this one is right here. Check it out below, but be warned: you may find yourself $1.29 poorer soon after listening to it.
