Every music festival this season seems to have similar lineups, with their big headliners this year being either LCD Soundsystem or Radiohead — that’s unavoidable in 2016. But Austin City Limits have announced their festival lineup for this year’s two-weekend installment and they somehow snagged both LCD and Radiohead, while also locking down Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, Haim, and LL Cool J. Don’t call it a comeback.
2016’s ACL festival boasts an impressive bill throughout — not only are there heavy-hitting rock and alternative bands, the lineup includes some great young country artists as well like Margo Price, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, and some guy named Willie Nelson. If country or rock isn’t your thing, than the hip-hop acts on this bill may tickle your fancy. Along with Kendrick Lamar and LL Cool J there’s Schoolboy Q, DJ Mustard, Raury, and Domo Genesis.
About half the lineup will only perform at one of the two weekends, some weekend one only artists include Andrew Bird, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, St. Lucia, Frightened Rabbit, and Lewis Del Mar. Don’t get upset if you can’t make weekend one — artists performing for weekend two are just as great, you’ll get Willie Nelson, Anderson.Paak & The Free Nationals, Conor Oberst, Anderson East, Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band, and The Wombats.
This year’s festival will happen over two weekends in Austin from Sept 30 to Oct. 2 and Oct. 7 to 9 with tickets on sale now through ACL’s website.
