Billy Corgan Continues His Reconciliation Tour By Admitting That He’s Patched Things Up With D’Arcy Wretzky

If the sadboy in your life has a bit of an extra spring in his step today, we might know why. Smashing Pumpkins‘ Billy Corgan and D’Arcy Wretzky have patched things up after 16-odd years of ill will. Corgan discussed their reconciliation and rumors of a full-on Pumpkins reunion in a Facebook Live video.

The admission follows Corgan’s Facebook shout-out to the bassist back in May and a performance with guitarist James Iha in March. Corgan says that the entire OG Pumpkins line-up is back in touch with one another because it “just makes life easier.”

“You can talk about the old days, you can have a laugh, you can see how each other are, you can check in, and sometimes there’s business things that come up where it’s easier to just talk about them than to have to go through a bunch of lawyers and stuff,” he said.

Of course, he’s also been focused on his new gig over at Impact Wrestling, where he wrangled an unreleased Pumpkins track for the theme song. He even manages to compare the rumors surrounding his band to a wrestling plotline, which is just all around excellent synergy. Corgan’s aware that all of the chatter about the former bandmates being on speaking terms is bound to lead to talk of a reunion. He addressed the rumors saying that they were “not at that point,” but never ruled the idea of a reunion out.

“We’re not rushing to something, we have to repair some things between us, and see what’s out there for us, if those opportunities are even there,” he said. “We’re not interested, nor have we ever been interested, in just going out to play because there’s a big stack of money there. Of course the business is part of what goes on, but the band was never about that, and if the band should ever be again in that form… it would be about the music. So speculate away, because that’s from me, not an anonymous source.”
