The National Cover ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Bathroom Song In This Exclusive Music Video

The National should be to Bob’s Burgers as Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem were to The Muppet Show. If there’s room inside the restaurant for a high-tech bathroom, then Bob and Linda can find space for the National — who have already performed “Kill the Turkey,” “Sailors In Your Mouth,” and “Christmas Magic” for Fox and Bento Box Entertainment’s Emmy-nominated animated series — to set up shop and become the house band. Hey, speaking of restrooms: the indie rock band, who are preparing for a new album, are back with a new song for Bob’s Burgers. It’s all about, you guessed it, bathrooms.

In the season six finale, Louise accidentally glues Bob to a toilet. There’s never a good time to be stuck to the throne (unlike that other Throne), but it’s especially bad timing when a journalist is coming to profile your restaurant. To pass the minutes, and because Bob’s Burgers is the best, Bob sings a song called “Bad Stuff Happens in the Bathroom.” It’s not as gloomy as it sounds: “But I’ll be outta here in no time / I’ll be doing interviews and feelin’ just fine.” Louise later joins in to say, “I did absolutely nothing wrong / I’m not to blame, it’s not my fault.” In the exclusive music video above, the National’s Matt Berninger fills in for Bob, and English singer Låpsley supplies Louise’s vocals.

Bad stuff may happen in the bathroom, but only good things transpire when the National and Bob’s Burgers collide. Bob’s Burgers returns to Fox for season seven on Sunday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. EST/6:30 p.m. CST.
