The Bon Iver Album Isn’t Even Out Yet And A Fan Already Got A Tattoo

If there’s one thing we know about Bon Iver fans, it’s that they’re intensely devoted. And what better way to prove your dedication as a fan than to get a symbol of it permanently inked on your skin? On Friday night, Justin Vernon and co. played the entire new album 22, A Million live at Eaux Claires Music & Art Festival, the Wisconsin-based festival Vernon spearheads. It’s the band’s first new material in five years, and the music definitely seems to have resonated, because by the end of the weekend one fan already decided to get a symbol from the album tattooed.

As Stereogum points out, this photo was uploaded to Reddit less than a day ago, which means the person decided to make a very permanent decision about their love for this album within 48 hours of hearing it. They say when you know, you know, right? The symbol is two intertwined twos — an allusion to the album title and the early single “22 (OVER S∞∞N)”–and a line from that song “it might be over soon.” The tattoo, however, will not be over anytime soon. Let’s hope the excitement holds up until Sept. 30 when the record is officially slated to drop.
