There’s been a slew of younger musical stars on The Tonight Show in recent years showing off their talents at mimicry and combining it with their singing talents. Christina Aguilera still likely tops this bunch, but Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande weren’t slouches. It might not be Carpool Karaoke, but it seems to get the job done. It’s a lot easier to get guests, especially when someone like Celine Dion can stop by to promote her album.
Much like she tried to take Aretha Franklin in all of those VH1 Divas shows back in the day, now Dion has people coming for her throne. Luckily, as you can see above, she’s up to the challenges. Her impressions are pretty odd at the start and she seems a tad reluctant, but then she belts them out and reveals how she was merely waiting for the right time to strike.
It’s cool to see someone like Celine Dion cover Sia, even if it’s with a silly nursery rhyme, and still manage to capture that person’s talent. Also, despite this being a typical show for Jimmy Fallon, it’s a nice diversion away from the onslaught of coverage and jokes about the Republican National Convention.
