Chance The Rapper Performed With Kirk Franklin And A Gospel Choir At Pitchfork Music Festival

Kirk Franklin’s ultra-posi gospel sound was all over Chance the Rapper’s latest project. Still, it’s a bit of a surprise to see the man himself up on stage with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment as they performed standout Surf cut “Sunday Candy” at the Pitchfork Music Festival.

Chance and Co. performed the already relentlessly upbeat track with the man behind “Stomp” and a gospel choir. I think the “Sunday Candy” music video could be used as a modern day Voight-Kampff test. If you don’t smile, you’re clearly a replicant. But this performance could bring a smile to even the most jaded and logical android face.

“Sunday Candy” was far from the only highlight of Chance’s set. Pitchfork fest organizers were rewarded in their decision to put him in the closing slot, as he wrapped up the event with a bang.
