Charli XCX‘s most popular work happens to be when she’s working in the background, like writing major songs such as Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” to name a few, but she’s loud, front and center when it comes to decrying something like the Men’s Rights movement. The pop singer/songwriter went on an extended Twitter rant aimed squarely at the BBC after learning that BBC 3 was airing a documentary on Men’s Rights activists. XCX admitted that she hadn’t seen all of Men At War — the documentary based around UK men who think they are being oppressed by the fight for equal rights for women — but let loose based on the preview.
SORRY BUT THIS FUCKING DISGUSTS ME. https://t.co/qRBwvBnk4e

a lot of my audience were unable to watch. this doc seems (from this snippet) to be discussing feminism in an entirely negative light and is

shown prime time at 9pm……….. ughhhhhh priorities. come on.

Charli has a beef beyond being a woman (and therefore the exact type of person that the insufferable collection of neckbeards calling themselves MRAs are trying to hold down). She made her own documentary for BBC 3 documenting the misogyny that many women in the music industry experience, a documentary that was not given the primetime slot like Men At War. She also felt that viewpoints as toxic as the ones espoused by MRAs should not be granted legitimacy by BBC coverage.
the way the man in this snippet talks about 'women and gays' is just so fucking FRUSTRATING. people like this don't deserve airtime.

positivity should be promoted. not negativity.

And because she’s clearly been here before, Charli has already predicted the reaction that is no doubt heading her way.
***probably about to be painted as an 'angry privileged man hating woman' now. fuck, dude i love men. just not men who are total cunts.
