James Corden And Cher Sing ‘I Got You Babe’ With Updated Lyrics About Tinder And Snapchat

Oof, can you believe it’s been over 50 years (51, to be exact) years since Sonny & Cher’s seminal hit “I Got You Babe” was released? And it goes without saying that the modern world we live today in is starkly different than it was back in the ’60s. So it only made sense when Cher dropped in to sing the classic on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night, that she change the lyrics to something today’s generation might be able to understand and identify with.

With some help from Corden, following some confusion over who was to play the part of “Cher” in a Sonny & Cher song, she debuted updated lyrics such as “They say we’re young and we don’t know / how to find love without using our phone” and “When I text you an eggplant / you’ll send me a nude on Snapchat.” And of course, the main verse has been changed to “I got you bae” to fully reflect the times.

Jokes aside, can we just talk for a second about how good Cher looks and sounds at 70? Damn, woman. I hope and fully expect that she’ll be singing this song in another 10 years from now with whatever the dumb 2026 version of “Netflix and chill” is.
