CHVRCHES Prove Again They’re A Great Covers Band, This Time With Justin Bieber

No offense to our own Ryan O’Connell, but I’m not ready to say I’m a Justin Bieber fan, not while he’s still buddies with Floyd Mayweather. But CHVRCHES is sure doing their damndest to make his “What Do You Mean?” an iTunes mainstay. Our favorite Scottish synth-pop trio (whose new album, Every Open Eye, is out this week) dropped by BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” this morning to perform a cover of Lena Dunham’s least favorite song, and it’s predictably excellent.

That’s because all of CHVRCHES’ covers are excellent. They strip the song down to its raw, emotional core, and add a killer groove. Disagree? Bring it on, motherf*ckers.

Here’s a selection of their finest work.

Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River”

Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know?”

Janelle Monáe’s “Tightrope”

Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”

HAIM’s “Falling”

Synths make everything better.
