Stephen Colbert Enlisted Chance The Rapper And Skrillex To Remix His Monologue

Monologues on late-night shows can sometimes feel kind of repetitive. A show’s intro music is about to wind down and the host emerges from a curtain and spends the next 10 minutes making generally safe and pedestrian jokes about current events. Seth Meyers bucked the trend of the traditional monologue in August 2015 when he elected to sit for his, similar to his former Weekend Update post. The Late Night with Seth Meyers’ deskologues have become a breath of fresh air, as well as increasingly entertaining and informative. With all due apologies to Trevor Noah, Meyers’ deskologues have managed to replace The Daily Show as the morning go-to for people looking to make sense of what is going on the news. With that in mind, the Late Show decided to mix it up with a couple choice musicians.

Stephen Colbert took a crack at spicing up his monologue Tuesday night by enlisting Chance the Rapper and Skrillex to help liven things up and provide in person remixes of his jokes. The jokes revolved around changes in the breakfast industry (and industry very close to my cereal-loving heart,) and everything seemed to be following Colbert’s normal course of action until the siren — you know the one, the “DJ siren,” blared. That’s when Chance and Skrillex came bounding out. While they won’t be permanent fixtures on the show, the “Raaaaaaaandy-fying” of his monologue definitely gave late night a fresh twist for one night.
