Chris Martin Helped A Fan Propose At A Concert, Pulled The Wrong Lady Onstage, And Recovered Nicely

Public proposals can turn out awesomely or awkwardly, but in some cases, they can qualify as both. Such was the case this weekend in Melbourne when Coldplay frontman Chris Martin welcomed two fans onstage for a planned proposal on Lonardo Tanno’s behalf. Unfortunately, Martin plucked the wrong lady out of the audience, which made for a few moments of discomfort. But no worries, for all turned out splendidly well in the end.

Martin got all swept up in excitement (“I’m a sucker for this sh*t, I can’t say no”), which led to one puzzled woman, and when Martin realized the mistake, he hilariously asked, “What the f*ck are you doing here?” Within moments, the correct lady (Felicia Lie) soon materialized so that Tanno could get down on bended knee and perform the customary proposal gestures.

Well, of course she said yes — and it happened in front of 50,000 fans.

Martin consciously uncoupled from Gwyneth Paltrow a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean he’s not all for the institution of marriage. Indeed, Martin gamely helps fans propose at concerts. This has happened multiple times (yet another proposal happened at the band’s second Melbourne date), which means it’s officially a thing to get engaged at Coldplay shows. And there was much celebration in the aftermath…
