David Bowie Teams Up With Tilda Swinton In ‘The Stars (Are Out Tonight)’ Music Video

I know what you’re thinking: “David Bowie and Tilda Swinton aren’t the same person? Next you’ll tell me Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman are two, completely different humans?” But apparently, they are, because they both appear in the music video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” the second single from Bowie’s upcoming album, The Next Day.

In it, Bowie and Swinton play a couple who are haunted by new neighbors Andrej Pejic and Saskia de Brauw, a Dutch model. The goal of the “film” was to capture “a 21st century moment in its convergence of age, gender, and the normal/celebrity divide,” which, OBVIOUSLY. Come for the symbolism, stay for the gender swapping.
