Deftones Unveiled Their New Album By Tweaking Kanye West’s ‘Greatest Album Of All-Time’ Comment

It’s been four long years since Deftones have been in the spotlight, and now the band is gearing up for a return with their eighth studio album, Gore. On Thursday, the alt-metal band released a teaser video for the new record and its first single, “Prayers/Triangles.” Now they’re including more details about the album, including the track list and cover art. But the best part about all of this — aside from the obvious, which is that we’re getting a new Deftones album — is that frontman Chino Moreno also poked a little fun about Kanye West in the Gore press release.

“Out of respect for Pac, Big, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, Gore is ONE of the greatest albums, not the greatest, just one of.”

Surely you remember Kanye talking about his upcoming album Waves on Twitter. That’s when he called it “the greatest album of all-time” and “album of the life,” only to later take a step back on both comments.

“Out of respect for Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac, Marvin…. this new album is ONE of the greatest albums, not the greatest, just one of …”

Gore is expected to drop on April 8, and will serve as the band’s first studio release since 2012’s Koi No Yokan. Will it be better than Kanye’s album dropping in February? That remains to be seen.
