Did Kanye West Offer To Pay That Australian Artist To Paint Over His Kissing Mural?

Enigmatic pop sensation Kanye West doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that really has a sense of humor about himself. He might pretend like he does, but he’s not the kind of guy that if I ever met I’d start peppering with jabs and expect to befriend. In the same vein, I’m not sure that I’d bring up that meme of Kanye kissing Kanye, either. I definitely wouldn’t make a mural of it.

Yet Australian street artist Scottie Marsh did exactly that. To top it off, he’s even selling prints of the now-famous image and apparently Kanye West might not have the best sense of humor when it comes to this photo. According to Vice, a mysterious offer appeared in Marsh’s inbox offering him money to paint over the mural of the now-famous meme for five figures. Unsure of how to handle this, Marsh upped the ante:

Marsh responded as anyone would—he tried to up the price, and get some free shoes. “I just took the piss out of it because I thought it was a bit of a gee up. So I asked for six figures and a lifetime supply of Yeezys.”

Marsh has yet to see a response to his counter-offer, but he’s made it a bit easier for Kanye and his management to literally whitewash over this whole issue by offering a $100,000 print that so happens to include a 24-hour turnaround on him painting over the mural. While that sounds far beyond reasonable, this is Kanye West that we are talking about and reason was thrown out the window ages ago.
