DMX – a platinum selling rap artist most popular for a string of late-nineties hits including “Party Up (Up In Here)” and “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” – was arrested today after a traffic stop in Greer, South Carolina yielded three bags of marijuana. DMX was not driving at the time, but he was arrested one town over just last week for drinking and driving.
Thing are not looking up for the former superstar. This is his third arrest this year alone.
DMX – real name Earl Simmons – was reportedly drunk at the time of his arrest and was placed in jail before being released on bail the same night. The arresting officer reported finding “a bag of green plant material I knew to be marijuana” on the passenger’s side of the car, where Simmons was sitting. DMX denied knowledge of the marijuana at first before telling the officer “had breathing trouble.”
Here’s where things get ugly: “At this point, Mr. Simmons became very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats,” the police report continues. “The smell of alcohol coming from his person became very strong.”
A female friend of the rapper, purportedly the driver of the car DMX was arrested in, filmed the altercation, which you can see below:
