Watch Earl Sweatshirt Debut Three New Songs During A Live Show

Earl Sweatshirt is one of those artists who fans are constantly clamoring for new music from. It’s been a year and a half since his last studio album, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, which is actually kind of a long time in a hip-hop scene where young artists are releasing material more rapidly than ever. Luckily, we were recently given confirmation that Sweatshirt is working on new material at the One Love festival in Calgary, Alberta, where he played three new songs.

The concert took place two weekends ago, on September 11, and in the time since, footage of Sweatshirt performing new material has gradually begun to surface online, including the above video. An enthused Sweatshirt tells the crowd that his favorite part of the show is playing songs for the first time — which he’s been known to do before — and then launches into some killer new material. All three songs have strong, innovative beats, along with the confident flow that we’ve come to expect from Sweatshirt. Of course, at this point all of these songs are untitled, and we have no idea if they will ever appear on a proper album. That being said, this footage gives us confidence that Sweatshirt’s next album will be yet another in the classic.

In the meantime, fans can check out “Really Doe,” his stunning collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, and Ab-Soul, which was released to immediate praise yesterday.
