Eddie Vedder’s Secret Show Turned Into The Best High School Reunion Ever

Many folks skip out on high school reunions. Even though keeping in touch is easier than ever these days — thanks, Facebook — it’s hard to go back without feeling underwhelmed. The cool crowd doesn’t look so cool anymore, and if the graduating class included several hundred people, that’s a reunion full of strangers. It’s far easier to meet up for cocktails or lunch with a few choice friends. That’s usually more enjoyable anyway. However, all high school reunions shall forever pale in comparison to the Eddie Vedder shindig that took place at his alma mater (San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas, California). On Saturday night, Vedder rocked out at a fundraiser for the school’s performing arts department.

Of course, this wasn’t an official “reunion,” but many of Vedder’s former classmates showed up (wouldn’t you?). A full crowd danced away while several dudes jumped onstage to jam with Vedder for multiple tunes. As George Stimson wrote on Vimeo, “I guess this is what happens when friends and family get the opportunity to get together to play a few songs that shaped their youth.” Indeed, the group delivered rousing renditions of Joe Jackson’s “Got the Time” and the Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner.”

Eddie Vedder may be the coolest rock star of the week for this display of awesomeness. Your move, Dave Grohl.
