Watch This Former NHL Player Do An On-Ice Rendition Of Tom Petty’s ‘Free Fallin”

Former NHL player Ryan Hollweg didn’t have a spectacularly impressive hockey career in North America. As a member of the Rangers, Maple Leafs and Coyotes, he only recorded 14 points in 228 career NHL games. He was more known for being a “gritty” player, racking up a total of 349 penalty minutes throughout his career. In fact, he might be best known for being the victim of an incredibly dirty and inexcusable slash delivered by Chris Simon back in 2007.

These days, though, Hollweg is playing hockey for HC Plzen in the Czech Extraliga, but he’s also doing so much more than that. Apparently, he also occasionally treats the hometown fans to rock concerts after games, and those who are lucky enough to attend definitely get their money’s worth.

Thankfully, we have been gifted video of a recent performance, and the highlight is undoubtedly Hollweg’s rendition of Tom Petty’s classic hit, “Free Fallin’.” While it’s clear that Hollweg doesn’t exactly have the world’s greatest grasp on the tune and its lyrics, there’s no question that the hockey player knows how to entertain a crowd. Despite his musical sloppiness, the performance was gloriously entertaining.

So entertaining, in fact, that I’m starting to think Hollweg may have chosen the wrong career path.
