Jack White Will Appear On ‘The Muppets’ Season Finale

ABC’s new version of The Muppets, the Henson-ion mockumentary in the vein of The Office, is airing its season one finale March 1. Some have complained that the Muppets are too mean on this show. Others have just complained that it hasn’t been as funny as it should be, considering it’s, you know, a comedy. However, it has remained true to the Muppets the nostalgia fiends love so much by keeping up the tradition of having a lot of celebrity guests appearing as themselves. Earlier this season, Dave Grohl battled Animal in a drum off. Now, another legendary rocker will be making an appearance in the finale.

That would be none other than Jack White. Yes, the former frontman of The White Stripes and the impresario of Third Man Records will be hanging out with Kermit and Gonzo and this weird humanoid puppet called Chip that they have now. White will, evidently, “help Kermit with his relationship with Miss Piggy.” Will that involve music? One can only assume. Otherwise, why have Jack White show up?

This may feel like an odd fit, because the Muppets are, you know, cartoonish puppets that do a lot of silly things, while White has a reputation as a bit of a curmudgeon. Perhaps they will mine some humor from that. Maybe that guy who throws fishes will throw a fish at him. The possibilities are endless. We’ll have to wait until the finale to find out the truth.
